So I just purchased snowflake clown and I just put him (i think its a him) with my 2.5 female. as of right now its like world war 3 in my breeding tank. The snowflake is about 1.25 to 1.5 inches long. I purchased him thinking it was a male because the lady told me that the other snowflake that was with him was a little bigger and he was just purchased about 3 days ago. so I thought the one that was purchased was the female and this one was the male. So if I am correct then when will the war end and if Im not correct then when should I pull the snowflake?

Well i couldnt watch it anymore i pulled the snowflake. Both fish were breathing really heavy and it didnt seem like the snowflake was giving in. So should i assume its a female and not try again or should i give it a few hours or days and try it again?

I have paired a few clowns before and for the most part the fight for just a min or two and then the smaller one roles over on his side and starts shaking and its over in a few min this time my larger female Occ just chased him relentlessly, biting along the way and my smaller snowflake (about 1.5") would just run and hide if he/she could, but I never seen the snowflake role over and shake like I expected. So unless if others find this to be normal I think I will just pair the snowflake up with a small unsexed or small male.

I've only paired clownfish twice, but I noticed that when the two clowns were closer in size it was less violent. I think the bigger one was more afraid to get bit back lol. The whole process took a much shorter time too.

I have the opposite experience. This is the first time I ever tried to pair up two that were kind of close in size. The last two times I tried the female was large and the male or unsexed was maybe half an inch. In those cases the male would submit almost instantly and then the female may still charge after the male for a few more days but she would almost always stop short because the male will once again role over and submit to the female.

Two of my wyoming white fought like for 4 hours and I saw the smaller one with some damage on the tail. The smaller one pretty much gave up and hide for couple of hours, but the next morning they hang out together without any violence. Well, a little bit violence on the bigger one whenever its the meal time which is normal, so I have to feed on two spots, for them to have equal food :D:cool:. The only bad thing is they still won't host the RBTA:frusty:.

ya i gave up on the RBTA. My snow flake was trying to hide, I don't know if that was his way of giving up or not. I only let them fight it out for about a half hour, but it looked pretty violent. I honestly don't know if thats normal or not but it just didn't look like the snowflake had too many more hours left if I kept him there.
