Has anyone searched this island for critters?

From what I have found it is untouched in terms of development, privately owned and has been for sale as high as 2 million (pre-bubble) and as low as 450k (2012).

Would make a great permanent project for MARSH.

We should buy it and setup the MARSH South Deer Island Marine Wilderness Preserve. Owned exclusively by MARSH.

Hi, Chewy.
I've fished the areas around South Deer many times so I know the area well. It's mostly marshland, only a very small portion of the island is actually out of the water. The bay around the island is VERY shallow, maybe 1 ft or less and is essentially a continuous oyster reef. If you want to go out there sometime, I'll be happy to take you...

good luck,
Steve

Sounds like a dangerous area for collection. Nets and gear getting cut up. It seemed from google maps the area around was shallow and the island would be easy to walk around on? From what I have found North Deer Island has become a bird sanctuary. Im guessing if there is anything to collect you would have to find it before the birds.

If I could get a permit for small traps, I will let you know. Thanks
