Fan worked, even with yesterdays heat, Temp at 78, lost a quart to evaportation but not bad. :)

I have a 200 gallon set-up in my garage. I use a temp controller hooked up to a full size box fan. It kicks on at 81 degrees and so far has kept the temp at 81. It evaporates less than my 125 in the house, due to the constant high humidity I'm sure. The fan sits face down 3" off the water.

I have a 1/2 horse chiller if needed, but had rather not pay that electricity bill......

Do these worms stir too much of the sandbed and release gasses. I have about an 8" sandbed in my 36 (I know overkill) I am trying to balance out the barebottoms so we all have a 2" average. I am sure over time I am going to have some really caustic gasses in the bed. Would these worms cause a disruption?

Thanks and very interesting project.

No problem at all. They stir the top two inches of the bed which is where they need to be. The best part is they keep it areated (sp), clean from detrius, and add bio diversity. Think of them as earth worms for you SB.
I may have some adults, ready soon. Look at what they cost on line, then see if $ 3 each for Marsh members is a bargan? Six is enough to start a rapidly growing colony in an tank. I would suggest more for larger systems.

PUMA,

The trek to pearland would be a beast, but I would give them a try. Do you think that a brittle star would eat them. I suspect him of eating alot of my snails and crabs. At times I think I want to get rid of him, but everything in my tank seems to be doing well and the bottom is relatively clean so, leaving well enough alone at the moment.

I have them in my main display. At one time I had a green britt, a gray and red stripped serpant, and two red britts with plenty of worms. I have not had time to check the brood tank, I have been working on curriculum, but I might give it a spot tomorrow.

sorry I have not updated in awhile. During the week of storms i lost power. This power loss led to the crash of the main brood tank. I am in the process of starting over. Summer school ends on Friday. This will give me the time off I need to get this thing up and running. I will post as things develope.
