So I have noticed the little grey and white starfish in my tank; kinda like a sand sifter but tiny! Well they never really bothered me until I just caught one of those SOB's on my AOG polyps! Now I am back down to just a couple on that particular frag. How do I get these dang things out?!

I have about a million of those. Dont think mine are zoa eaters though. HaI think theyre kinda cool. Alot of newbies that see my tanks always get fascinated by these little guys. Im always asked if I can sell them some.

lol Ill sell ALL of them! Yes Cat I caught a couple going to town on my AOG zoas. Shrimp and by hand is the only option? I have majority zoa and chalice in that tank, I dont know much about harlequin shrimp other than they eat chocolate stars; would they destroy anything else in the tank?

Harlequin shrimp eat live starfish only, so any stars in the tank would be prey.

Definitely sounds like asterinas. Most types don't eat zoas but may just cover them up or irritate them. My tank is infested with them as well but they don't actually bother anything. I will take a filter sock and clamp it to my sump, start a siphon and vacuum them up in the morning when they are on the glass and easier to get to. Even with that there are still tons.
Harlequin shrimp eat just starfish so they will clear them out. People who own harlequins will keep chocolate chip starfish in the sump to cut up and feed the harlequins after asterinas are gone so they don't starve.
