T5 color compare with VHO (1 Viewer)

I just got a set 4- T5 39w each. 2 T5 10000K and 2 T5 Anctinic . It seem they are stronger than my VHO ( 1 Actinic white, 1 super anctinic 95w each). But the color seem dimmer. They are not white bright as VHO. Do you guy has the same feeling . I know the T 5 is better but I love the color of the VHO. What do you guy think???

Mix in a 6500K instead of one of the 10K and try that,
Its yellow by itself but brings the blue side back towards white.

i love t5ho, but you'll get a lot of various opinions. i've seen a lot of vho tanks and in my opinion they aren't near as bright.

how old are the bulbs in the t5 setup? if they are old they will be much dimmer than normal.

i have experience with both VHO & T5. IMHO VHO colors are more pleasing to the eye. They also have more flouresce.

Really? I use one T5 actinic and one Blue Plus and thems seem to flouresce brighter now then when I had VHO.

I really depends on the bulb. Different manufactures bulbs will look different. I really love T5 and I am switching to all T5HO with SR. I think you can get better flouresce with the right combination of T5 bulbs

I have recently switch to t5s for my actinics and i love the color. Vs the vhos and pc's. Im running 250w mh 10k ushio's and giesemann actinics with giesemann actinic plus's t5's. I think the color looks great!

i have been experimenting with both.


The VHO's are URI 36"actinic
The T5's are 46" Coralife actinic

i have been running them both on, seems to give nice color.

1st pick, 250W 14K halide only
2nd 14K +VHO
3rd 14K + T5
4th all on
