I need to cut my old stand doors. I can’t really do it at home. I could try to make a guide like I did the last time, but it would be so much easier to put them against a fence and make a very nice straight quality cut in 5 seconds.

If anybody knows a business that offers this kind of service or if somebody has a table saw with a fence where I can make a couple quick cuts on each door please let me know.

Just need to take a few inches off both the insides where they join together. This stand is the same size, but I went with 2x6’s so it shortened the distance between the doors. I hung one and then hung the other and was about to close them and was like ohh shoot. Lol.

I have one. How wide do you need to make the cut? My fence only goes so wide. I can measure it but for instance if it's 36" and you are trying to shave off an inch, you are gonna need a cabinet shop. My saw can probably handle 24" or so. Let me know the size and I'll measure it.

The other option is a straight edge that clamps down with a circular saw. It can be done that way as well. I have a few fine cut blades.

Ok let me measure it. I did the straight edge with clamps last time, but would love to make a couple quick passes with a table saw. :)

They are both about 21” Webster. I cut them with a fine tooth blade last time. Not like super fine, but fine enough for a clean cut. Let me know when a good time is. I need to measure real quick and see exactly what I need to take off of each door.

Ok, they over lap by 5/8” from inside of the side panels to outside of door. So that translates to 1.25” (for both) and the large inside gap from side panel to side panel is 37.5”

So total door length will be 38.75 minus 1/8” for the doors to close properly and that should put me at 38.625” or 38-5/8” as a mixed number. Then divide that by 2 (to get each door cut) and each door should be 19-5/16” and to make it easier I could round up to 19-3/8” or down to 19-1/4”

I never can get a cut to come out good, so maybe I should round up so the gap won’t be so big. Although these are euro hinges and will both have some play up-down-left-right. Both could easily move 1/8” or more.

Well, not so good news. I can only go about 15". You're either gonna have to use the straight edge or run it by a cabinet shop.

I’ve used a Kreg rip cut tool with a skill saw to get pretty accurate cuts. Although the don’t recommend cutting less than 1” width cuts I’ve cut down to about 3/8” very clean.

Tuesday should be good.
Or I could do it Monday evening. Either one.

I’ll pre measure and mark them and that will save time. That way we just fire up the saw and make two quick cuts.

If that blade is old I have a couple new blades on my circular saws, but not sure what size arbor your table saw has vs my saws or how hard it would be to swap blades. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The blade is 10" and your circular saw is 7.25". But no worries, I have a brand new fine cut blade on there. Monday or Tues is fine, Just let me know in advance.

See you this evening. 👍🏼 If your glass is clean I’ll bring the tripod for a 3 yr update video. Has it really been 3 years?? Covid makes time fly by. Gezz.

Well…Webster’s table saw was razor sharp and we made two clean cuts. Couldn’t have gone any better. Doors are hung and I just need to refinish them as they have been through two moves and need a light sanding and new paint. Really appreciate the help and the stag! First tester frag in the tank. Iodine is high and the bacterial bloom is still lingering, but things are about to go full throttle very soon. Tank just hit one month. Not one spec of algae yet so I would say I’m doing really well compared to my previous systems. Cycling the rock for months has really paid off so far. 3363BC62-CBF1-43C4-893C-E13004997AEE.jpeg 6B113F04-CA61-434F-9F59-2A3C5E59AE19.jpeg

We talked about beveling those doors but after seeing them hung, I don't think I would. They look good just like that.

Yeah true that. I might put a tiny 1/16 or 1/8th bevel just to knock that sharp lip off from the cuts, because it will eventually get broke and force me to repaint again. Other than that…I need to get off my butt and do some sanding. This stand is a different white also…so they don’t match.
