I need to move my red cap as it has essentially taken over the center of the tank and is wreaking havoc on my flow. Any tips on moving it without destroying it. I have thinned out the dead stuff on the bottom but the base is really thick. I am going to move it lower in my tank and sell whatever is left over.

I had a cap colony that was 18" in diameter and presented the same problem when my interest turned more toward acros. My only solution was to sell it with the LR attached. The problem was it was attached to two pieces and I wanted to keep the colony intact. I solved that problem by using epoxy to attach the two rocks together. Worked like a charm and made a fellow reefer with a 500 gallon system very happy!
