I have a powder blue tang for bout three weeks and today I just bought a sailfin tang. right after I put the sailfin tang in the powder blue tang chased after it and bit the sailfin for a good two minutes. so I have to take it out and bring it back to the lfs .
I thought tangs are nice and easy going with each other or is my powder tang just mean? I am scared to buy another fish to put in there now. If it happens again should I sell it? Thanks in advance.

Its a 72 gal tank. Sometime it picks on my puffer fish too! But It plays well with my clown fish.

sorry xskyzx, but tangs are fickle. you can't just add them all willy-nilly (that's the scientific term) I hope it works out for you.

A 72 gallon with a tang and a puffer (and clowns?), you're easily at the limit anyways. No need to add more fish. And whoever told you tangs were easy going is quite misled, they can be extremely aggressive with other tangs or similarly shaped fish.

Also, with tangs in the tank it is best to add fish late in the evening after your lights are off so they just wake up in the morning with a new friend instead of you plopping a stranger down in the middle of their turf.

I have this down to a science now so if you want to know more just swing by one day and I'll explain it to you.
