New tank should be delivered this week, hoping for tomorrow.
Looking for a few people to help me move the tank Saturday afternoon from garage into the house on stand.
It’s a Red Sea Reefer XXL 750. It’s heavy!
If someone has a set of glass suction handles would be awesome!
I’m in Brookshire, about 10 miles past Katy. I-10 at Igloo Rd/Jordan Ranch Rd. Same exit as the Rooms to Go warehouse.
Txt is best

Thanks

Congrats Joe! That’s a gorgeous tank.

If I were you I would hire one of the lfs to move it. It’s very risky to get club members to move it. [emoji846]

Thanks!
I’ve helped many move tanks before. Was hoping the favor would be returned.
I might have to recruit neighbors.

Some important points to consider about the 750

- the cabinet top and some others are actually underneath the aquarium itself
- the bulkhead underneath the aquarium is exposed and must not be rested on a flat surface. You simply cannot slide the tank onto the stand.

I was wondering about that? I’ll need to get the stand in order to put it together so I can move the tank to it!
Hmmm

If you get two additional people, they can slightly lift one side at a time and you can slide the cabinet parts under the tank.
My wife and I did it by ourselves, but it was a p.i.t.a. Two more people will be a lot easier.

I got a neighbor to help me lift it on to furniture dollies so I could get to the rest of the stand.
Why on earth would they pack it this way?
The stand assembly has begun!

If I was on your side of town and off work I would have helped you. I have 4 suction cups. All you need for the XXL 750 is 4 men. Or 2 very strong men about Cody’s size. :geek:

Thanks!
I think I have a solution. The guy that bought my tank is having It picked up. I’m going to use the same service to move the new tank for me. It’s a bit pricy but I think it’s money well spent since they will be there anyway.

The tank was delivered last night.
As discussed, some of the stand pieces are UNDER the tank in the shipping box! I had to get a neighbor to help. We used 4 harbor freight suction handles (2 on each side). We lifted the tank about 6”, then over about 3’ to furniture dollies. One of the lifters slipped but did not come unattached. I quickly realized I am not going to do this myself (with help). I will gladly pay the $150 to have it done safely!
BTW, Who decided it was a good idea to pack it this way??

Probably a good idea since this is a difficult move. If something goes wrong, they will have to cover it. :)
