Do any of you know of a company or fish store that has a tank moving service? We are moving and have this 300 gallon system that needs moving. I have to work and hate to take a day off to move it, and I am a little lazy when it comes to moving thsi monster. Felix helped last time and that little guy is strong like a bull. Just curious if anyone actually provides this service.

Contact ADG. They have the tank lifts and can do it with ease. I know they helped a few members and delivered my tank. Although I did buy mine from them.

I was thinking about that Mike, but I have a big project going on working seven days a week and I just don't have time to break it down, move it and set it back up. I talked to one of the local guys today about moving it and they wanted $800. Uh.......no.

I don't think that #'s out of the range of expected cost if you're talking about a complete teardown, move and setup on a 300 gallon stocked system. I would thinking 500-1500 actually as an expected range. My pool table costs over 500 to move.

It is not stocked at all. I just wanted them to move it. It has nothing in it but rock, sand and water. I was going to break it down and set it up, they were just going to move it.

I have nothing to do with that FM2100 project but it should be done by December, 2014.

I would think some buddies and a few 6-packs could get that done. Esp if there's no fish or corals to worry about saving.

Yeah I agree...at minimum $500-800. It's a pain to move a large tank.

I don't know if you got your tank moved or not... But you could call Fish Gallery they deal with very large tanks installing and removing them from their customers stores. They will probably charge an arm and a leg but you never know till you call.

I had a feeling it wouldn't be cheap. You have to remember, when hiring people to move it they are responsible if something goes wrong. You could always run to Home Depot and grab a few day laborers but you get what you pay for. ;)

My favorite quotes are If I bid jobs! "Only the sun comes up in the morning for free", and this one " I'm not Santa"
I'm a contractor and my crews are not going out for less than $1400 a day, include is transportation, insurance, workerscomp and experience.
$800 for moving a fishtank is cheap.

Well........... how NOT to do it.

I am a project manager for a heavy civil contractor so I know all about not doing work for free. I took off and will move it myself. Thank all of you for the offers, it truly is appreciated.

Yeah 800 doesn't sound too bad if they are insured. Just think of the liability if they mess something up.

The tank is moved and set back up, filling with water. I took your advice and got some friends and beer, tank moved. Thanks everyone for your input, it is appreciated. No matter how hard you try, the rock scape never goes back the same.
