I didn't think much of the first two episodes other than watching for the actual building processes. I don't expect much husbandry knowledge to be associated with this show unfortunately lol.

Do they just build the tanks and then it's up to the owner to maintain it or pay someone to do it? Or do they do they provide maintenance and care as well? They did give a few care tips here and there and explained some of what they were doing.

I want to see some tanks with real coral. I'm not that impressed with the fake stuff.

I need to win the lottery! ;)

I'm sure that much of their business is in the tank maintenance, just like Fish Gallery and ADG. They sell the custom tank and then a maintenance contract to go with it. These people & businesses buying them have plenty of money to spend for the care of the tank.

They're not going to show people about tank husbandry in the show. That would hurt their business. I agree the maintenance is much of their business. They secure monthly contracts and gaurentee they have revenue next month instead of waiting for a custom build to make money.

Ummm...I'm not sure they become one of the biggest and best tank building companies by building tanks and then allowing all the livestock to die.

I disagree about the husbandry aspect considering husbandry guidelines offer insight as to how aquarium ecosystems function and the challenges aquarists face in keeping that environment stable. Perhaps it's the fish nerd in me, but I don't find it entertaining in seeing bread and butter fish in above-average displays, mishandled animals for tv personality purposes, nor misleading information. I'm sure much of the show is scripted along with providing outtakes to make the show more appealing to a broader community, but I think they can offer a higher grade of aquarium dynamics and still pull in ratings (what appeals to professional aquarists and fish nerds alike would appeal to the general public). In contrast, their craftsmanship is phenomenal and well worth the cost. I agree they most likely contract out the maintenance side just like any other venture in the same market.

What was mishandled, and what was misleading? I've handled fish in my tanks before. They did say that it takes around 6 weeks to complete a job. Much of this work is obviously not shown, as it's not sexy enough for a 50 minute time slot.
