we finally set up our DIY led strip built by Gabe at BAMF aquatics. We love it as t prouduces alot of shimmer. its actually was extremly easy to ft in our tek fixture, all we had to do is cut on lamp part off the big reflector and fit t under the bracket that is used to hold the end caps, there is no excess light fallout on the floor too!

I don't have a shield over it, but the bulbs are about 5 inches above the water and the LED is about 7in off the water. So I'm not that concerned.

Ya there is salt creep, but most of it if not all is when return was splashing up water for about a month a long time ago. I check it often now and the creep doesn't increase much at all.
