Ok, for those not following along on the"202 gallon diesel tank" thread, there is a bunch of hullabaloo about whether or not Diesel (Ben) should be classified as a commercial seller and have to register as a sponsor. Rather than everybody getting all excited, I have come up with a workable solution. With Diesel's permission, I decided to set up a "go fund me" page to make Diesel a sponsor. Please go to the below link for all of the details. Those that donate will receive a free...yes free (because he can't sell anymore...hahahaha) frag from The Diesel Tank. :) Happy donating.

https://www.gofundme.com/dieseltank

Edit: those that donate, please send me a PM with your donation amount so I will know who you are and can coordinate for your free frag.

He cant sell anymore? I missed the backstory.

Read the last couple pages on the "202 gallon diesel tank" thread. There was some confusion about whether or not he should have to register as a sponsor because he sells and promotes his tank. But disregard the diesel venting part. He was a little angry, but he's gonna be good now because those of us who love him have elevated him to the level of SPONSOR now so good ole Ben ain't going anywhere...and, he's gonna get his own page. Congratulations to Ben "The Diesel", Marsh's newest sponsor. You can sell and advertise and promote as much as you want now and nobody can tell you otherwise.

Wow, it’s 9:30 am and we are over goal. I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. What a great group of friends Diesel has here on Marsh. If this doesn’t “stick it to the man” for him and make him laugh, nothing will. I know after us “showing him the love,” he’s not leaving. He’ll get over it.

EDIT: ok, we are no longer "sticking it to the man" for doing their job. But I do get the same good feeling when I get to stick it to the IRS and pay less, even though I know they are just doing their job :) But now, we are just officially rallying in support of The Diesel.

Since we have hit goal so quickly, here is what I propose we do (and this is again with Ben’s blessing). He said that he has some nice “free” corals for those who donated. Remember, they are “free” because he can’t “sell”anything anymore until he becomes an official sponsor. And if you know Ben, you know your donation will get you a good deal.

I am going to let the donation page run until this evening at 8:00 pm. I don’t know yet what a sponsorship costs so will a BOD please PM me the prices? Whatever we raise above the sponsor cost by 8:00 pm will be donated to the Coral Restoration Foundation in the name of the “makeDiesel a sponsor” fund.

Thanks in advance to everybody for helping turn a tense situation into something fun. Webster (James)

If you still need a ticket to board The Diesel Express, go to this link https://www.gofundme.com/dieseltank

For those that have already donated or are planning to, please please PM me with your contact info and donation amount so I can make sure it gets relayed to The Diesel for your "free" gift.

I think the cost is 400.00. The fundme page should be there now if it is.

There are different levels of Sponsorships, starting somewhere at ~$180 and up.

I still think this whole thing is bizzare. I never have met Ben or have any of his corals. I just thought he was a very helpful and knowledgable person that has always helped me through PMs. I went back through the 202 thread and it seems like the BOD could have made an exception for him? I'm preaching to the choir I suppose.

Glad you guys got him out of a tight spot.

There are different levels of Sponsorships, starting somewhere at ~$180 and up.

Our sponsorship levels are:

Bronze - $150 requires 15% discount to MARSH members
Silver - $200 requires 10% discount to MARSH members
Gold - $250 requires 5% discount to MARSH members
Platinum - $300 requires 0% discount to MARSH members
Diamond - $400 requires 0% discount to MARSH members

Each comes with a forum. As you increase in price you get more advertising and provide less discount

Well, he could afford now a lower level for multiple years !

-Andre

That is what I was going to suggest. Since our lowest level is only $150 a year it may be better to set up a 2-3 years then donate the rest. That way we don't have to go through this every year.

Gofundme doesn't accept paypal?

I was going to donate a small amount, but I had to take a huge pay cut last week (got to keep my job at least) and things are tight now to say the least and the wife wouldn't be very happy to see the charge on the credit card.
At least the few bucks I have in my paypal account would go unnoticed! ;)
