This is a PSA for those who are bulb shopping..... I bought into the XM10k SE Fad and I'm paying for it [literally] now 6 months later...

The spectrum has shifted towards red. Which puts it below 6500k. Just giving everyone a heads up.

Anyone got $175 I can borrow?

and what does PSA stand for (I know I shouldn't have to ask and when you tell me, I'll think, oh yea)

PSA - Public Service Announcement

I have heard both good and bad about the XM bulbs. Personally I use Ushio 205W 10,000K bulbs over my tank. I have had them for two years (two sets of bulbs, not the same set) and the color is great.

Dont get me wrong they were awesome while they lasted [PAR + the cool looks] but, I dont want to pay to replace them every six months.

I've done my research and thrown it out the window. :D

The PAR numbers for the Hamilton 14k's arent that impressive but, I like their look. Scott from village is going to hook me up with a couple.

The light coming from the bulb is yellow/red'ish.

Is this a trick question? :D

Not a trick question. My XM 10k's are almost 6 months old, and I noticed that one bulb is more yellow than the other bulb. I have not seen any adverse effects on the corals yet, even on the more yellow bulb. Have you seen a difference in your corals before switching to a different brand?
