So after the Great Tank Crash of '10 I decided to try hermits in my tank instead of only snails like I had previously. Got some fairly small Blue & Red Leg Hermits. Well, for one they have never touched the algae in my tank, which was their intended purpose. After watching them decimate my little remaining breeding population of snails I began having some misgivings though...

Added some cerith and nassarius snails which have held there own, but I have noticed a few of my opportunistic hermits in new homes recently.

Then last night I caught one little booger snacking on a coral...

Enough is enough. I snatched probably about 2/3 of them and they've been banished to the Sump of Shame. I'll get the rest as I find them.

Anywho. What mix of snails do you guys use in your displays? I really really want to get a breeding population of whatever snails I have going again. Suggestions on which ones are prolific?

Dibs turbos are prolific! They seem to be primarily nocturnal so you don't see them all the time either. One of my two laid a bunch of eggs right before the frag demo where I got ~30-40 more from mike13oy and karlo. They have also started laying eggs, at night I can see a couple hundred babies already. Good for me because my lace Murex has eaten the several hundred nerite/cerith snails in my main tank. I can keep it fed cheaply now!

Yeah I've read about the DIBS Turbos over the years and want to give them a shot. I've got a couple PM's out to see if anyone has some surplus to sell. So far it looks like there was a round up back in December and I might have to wait a while lol. If you know anyone that has 20-30 of them to get me going I'd appreciate the info!

I don't have 20-30 but I have some you can just have out right.

Shoot me a PM with contact info. I live in your general area.
