Does anyone have any suggestions on a really good and accurate thermometer. The one I currently have is a coralife with a probe. It is not accurate at all I can take it out of the tank and put it in ice water and it will move a few degrees. Any suggestions will be appreciated Thanks

Mercury thermometer is often overlooked but typically very accurate. I have 3 American Marine Pinpoint Wireless Thermometers and they differ by as much as 0.75F sometimes.

I just use the small floating mercury type. I have never had any problems as long as the cardboard degree chart does not move on ya. Toyotas are for girls 125 coral reef tank

Try an industrial grade one like Ranco. You can plug a heater, fans & or a chiller into them to accurately control the temperature and not have to worry about the often crappy thermometers that come with todays aquarium products.

Frank,

I got that used Aqualogic controller, same as the Ranco, and confirmed that it was reading right spot on with an old fashioned $3 bulb thermometer last night. My Coralife digital was waaaaaay off. Got some PC fans today, so hopefully I can rig it up tonight to come on when the tank starts to heat up. My tank got to 85 degrees yesterday with the MH running most of the day! I have to get a good timer for them so they don't run while we are gone during the day.

Good luck on it!
