Time to replace the stock Coralife 150 MH bulbs. I was looking for suggestions on manufacturer and spectrum.

I have a 120gal long tank with 3 150 MH with Fish, live rock, anemone's and softies, with a few sps frags.

I have always been a fan of Megachrome 14000k. Perfect bluish/white light. I can attest to them giving amazing growth.

Thanks for the info, I think I will go with the Phoenix since the Radium are twice as expensive, although probably worth the money.

The reason radiums cost more is because you're paying for a better quality bulb radiums are made in Germany an phoenix are made in Japan would you rather have a Mercedes or a Mitsubishi =P

So switch from MH to T5? That's half the point of LED: you get all the benefit of MH without the heat issues, all the benefit of T5 and get to keep your shimmer, plus you eliminate the cost of continual bulb replacement and reduce your energy consumption.

The current led fixtures that are out like the radion and the new ai are really awesome I was skeptical of leds b4 cause of all the stories were people get little or no growth with sps

Unless you custom make it with the correct LED combination that statement is 110% FALSE. Will they grow corals yes. At the same rate as MH, yes. Will they produce the same colors.HELL THE F NO, unless you custom make them with the correct bulb combo. I have yet to see a Commercial LED setup that will produce the same, with the exception of one, and the biggest complaint people have with that one is that its not dimmable. They is definitely more promise. Also the breakeven on LED v MH is about 7 years, considering current electricity prices, and considering you dont make your own. And data is showing that an LED will lose about 25% of its spectrum after 5 years.

I checked out the Radion fixture and it has all the color you need. As I understand it they are all dimmable as well and fully adjustable for the full spectrum of color including dusk and dawn simulation. I totally agree with the need for DIY to get it perfect though, buy MH will nly give you one color unless you supplement (with T5/T8/VHO'S etc). A color shift after 5 years is assuming an operating power of 100% at 24/7 too I would think. It beats the MH shift after 6 months at 8 hours per day.
