When i picked up this frag on whim from UA a couple months ago, i had JUST put up my MH lights and removed my Radions.
When i brought the frag home it had a pure white base with pink polyps.
I thought it was just a pink birds nest.

Well now look at it.
Looks like I may actually have myself a Bird of Paradise! :thumb:

Hey Dennis, I brought a few frags of those thick pink birds nest to David. I have had the colony since 1998! Heres a pick of one of the frags. Under LED pink!!! MH you get that combo of the pink & green.

Never been a fan of LEDs. Light is too crisp and not uniform throughout. Lot of peeps are ditching their LEDs to go back to the tried and true of MH or T5 but they work for some though.

Leds if built right can be awesome, manufacturers are using the wrong colors. For instance, cool white instead of warm white, then they suppliment it with greens, yellows, reds, etc. I never had issues with coral colors under leds. Those that saw my 225 can attest to that. Leds is a diff breed from other lights, therefore your parameters will have a much more effect on coral colors. You cant use leds for a few months and say they dont work, they do, go to fjw, check out his birds of paradise, its not pink.

Yeah, mostly its sps that have issues and you pretty much have to go custom and/or use a TON of them to get good coverage.
I had a milli that was a brown stick for a year. No growth, no color. Put the mh up and within weeks it has exploded with growth and color. Same thing with a few others.
Other sps like my Red Planet always looked great. Just depends.
My LPS always did fantastic under LED as well.

But i also don't care for the overall look and the dimness of LED... and the lack of light wrap. Too much of a pinpoint light source.
I started looking back at old pics of my cube tank when it was lit by mh/t5 and really missed it.
I just prefer the way my corals and the tank as a whole looks under the MH/T5 combo. Personal preference.
