Today wile feeding my baby cardinals I noticed the pair of true percs were laying eggs again for the second time. The first time they laid the eggs on the back glass and this time they laid on the side of the pot in typical upside down fashion.

The last time was 12-27-12 so almost 3 months ago. Since then I rearranged their part of the tank which may have been the reason why it took them so long to breed again. Last time they were eating the eggs almost as fast as they were laying, this time unfortunately do to where they are laying the eggs I cant tell if they are eating them or not. The only thing that I can really do is see if the male is doing his job over the next few days, if he is then I can assume that they did not eat them this time. Either way I am not set up for these guys this time around because I don't have any rotifer and secondly I will be out of town early next week on what should be hatch day. So I will not be attempting to raise this batch but I am hoping that they will get on a more regular schedule and I will try the next back.

I was hoping that my false percs would have eggs first that way I could practice with them but it doesn't seem like I will be that lucky.

I took a video on my cell phone and I am trying to upload it to photo bucket, so with any luck I will have a video up soon.

Steve,

Thanks and ya I have a little bit of a journal for my cardinals and when I attempt to raise my 3rd batch I will try to do a journal then in the hopes of improving my own skills and also sharing what I have learned with others. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel but at the same time there are a few things that I am doing different then the norm when it comes to my cardinals and im sure there will be some things that I do different when it comes to the clowns as well. Hopefully those small things that I do different will work and we will all learn from them and of course if they don't work then we learned something there as well.

Sweet! I only ask because I pushed really hard to for John to get us hooked into MBI for breeding. So every time I see him I get the ahem Steve how many users do we have using the journals... LOL. I can't wait for your next attempts. Looking forward to it.

Here is the video that I said I would try to upload. This video was taken after about 45 min to an hour of laying eggs so they are not at it as aggressively as they were, but at about 40 sec its pretty clear what they are up too.
