i picked up another Purple Mask Angel or Venustus Angel. he's been in my tank since Saturday.

this one is eating brine, spirulina flakes, and mysis but he just is kinda slow. he swims around alot but i can see he's been chased by my Flameback Angel and my Coral Beauty.

anyone had any experience w/ this angel?

ive tried this angel before and he ended up getting chased and bitten by my flameback until he was almost dead. i scooped him out and isolated him in a temp. hospital tank but he died in the night.

and can anyone give me tips on getting it to feed more?

ive tried soakin mysis in garlic xtreme, i tried brine in zoe, and i tried spirulina flakes, marine pellets, marine flakes. only one he didnt eat was pellets. but he only gets like one bite or 2

he'll chase it down, he's just kinda slow.

thanks

Sounds like you have more of a problem with your other angels picking on the new comer. How big is the tank?

As I was reading this I was thinking what Leslea replied. Seems to me the problem is not with this angel but with it's tankmates.

For one of these "rare" type centropyge angels to get started it has got to have a quite time getting acclimated. If it is being chased all over then it is not going to remain healthy and acclimate to your tank. It will quit trying to get food and just regress to eventual death.

An, you have half the war over by this fish even eating. The problem is with the other fish chasing this fish. There are a couple of people in the MARSH club that have/had experience with this fish but they have 200+g tanks and plenty of space for this fish to hide if it was being harassed.

This goes back to why keeping more than 1 centropyge angel to a tank is iffy at best. They will fight til one either dies or lasts long enough to acclimate and be able to keep up it's end.

i hear ya, i know im crazy for trying to keep 4 angels in a 55 long but so far, so good.

venustus ate a whole lotta mysis today. no ich no nothing. originally i had only the flameback, and he was the king of the tank, but i decided i wanted to add a hybrid pygmy (half black x lemonpeel) so i decided that i would buy 2 other cheap or cheaper pygmys as distraction fish, to keep my flameback off my hybrid's back, so i buy a coral beauty at fish land, 19 bucks, looked good, but a little big, and then i trekked on to fish world and saw this venustus, in a hurry because aquatic designs closes at 7, i saw that this venustus ate brine like crazy, so i snatched that in a second and trekked on. then i realized that it was now 7 o clock and i am in bellaire.

racing hoping they closed late or something, i got to aquatic designs around 7 15, closed. aw man so i just added coral beauty and venustus, both doing good, coral beauty had a little ich after a few days.

and now i got my hybrid in there today, 4 days later.

sorry for the long post but basically im saying that my main goal was to get the hybrid in my tank. but knowing my great luck... i dont know how its gonna play out.

im going to get the coral beauty out come saturday when my uncle comes with a fish trap. if he's good, hopefully he can get the flameback as well.

Anan, How does a "venustus angel" look like? I typed in "Purple Mask Angel" and "Venustus Angel" in liveaquaria.com search section, but it didn't recognize the names :? Do you have a pic of this angel or know of a website that has their pics? just curious.
