Need help. I'm about to restock on acros soon and have a dilemma. Last time I ran a frag rack in the display, my pincushion urchin was a problem. It seems like no matter where I put the rack, the urchin will eventually roam over it and collect all the frags on it and carry them away.

The clownfish hates the rack as well and is able to knock it down but eventually stops and accepts it. The urchin though is an issue.

Getting rid of the urchin isn't in the plans. They're just too efficient of cleaners. My single urchin keeps the rocks spotless and has eradicated both bubble algae and red turf. He's earned his tenure. Just need a rack that can stand up or an idea of how to anchor them down. Any ideas?

Check out Building an Obsession. Ben Su makes great racks and he has one that has a material wedged between two plates that holds the plugs in place. He can be found here i think, or on Facebook under Building an Obsession. And he is right there in Houston.

Zen Reef added a silicone grip that supposedly holds frags pretty well. I saw it at the Maast swap last weekend. Might want to check them out too. I'm sure he can ship to College Station.

Thanks fellas. The zen reef guys are sponsors on our local b/cs Reef forum and their post about that new rack is what sparked the discussion. Asked them if it's urchin safe. Awaiting response

I told them to do the ol' dairy queen blizzard test on it. Flip it upside down!
