I was looking at the packaging on some Ushio MH bulbs I just got and it said that it must be used with UV filtering glass and that no UV light should be allowed to escape unfiltered from the bulbs. Does this apply to aquarium use? Is this the case for all MH bulbs?

AL MH bulbs that have no outer glass envelope, like HQI bulbs, though I've noticed that a number of HQI bulbs are being manufactured with the outer envelope.

Mongul style bulb (single ended) have the protective UV sheild. The double ended (HQI) are the ones that don't.
