I was thinking back today at the times that I would dose Vibrant to help boost the nitrifying bacteria in my tank. Boy, was I wrong. It doesn't mean that I won't use it again in the future, especially to take out bubble algae. However, had they just been honest about it in the beginning it would have been a lot better. Oh well. I won't buy their stuff in the future though. I'll just use AlgaeFix once I run out of my current supply.
That's where I'm at currently, have some left over and trying to fight bubble algae with emerald crabs but they aren't really making a dent. Gonna give them another week or two and if I don't see a change I'm gonna start dosing vibrant.

Couldn't agree more. I thought I was doing a "good" thing by dosing this bacteria. When I would dose Vibrant,, I would stop dosing my other bacteria like microbacter7 so they wouldn't compete against one another. Boy what a disappointment. Now I know why I would get cyano afterwards. Have two new bottles that I may try to send back for a refund. Wonder when the class action will start? I have been following that thread on R2R. Looks pretty damning at the moment.

There's not going to be a class action suit. Not enough money to get from them.

Craig Bingman weighs in on Vibrant :) :D

Go to 36:40

He disabled the video so it won’t playback on other websites because Terence wants to go to his channel. So search him on YouTube (The Reefing Report) to play the video.

Nice catch Cody. If you have been around long enough you have probably used vibrant. You probably also know the difference between bacteria and algaecide along with the difference in how to treat/dose each respectively. Treating them the same however, invites disaster.

Learned the hard way with vibrant. Anenomes did not like it at all.

Worse part of vibrant kills beneficial bacterial and causes cyanobacteria outbreaks.

Yea see, I was administering based on what I know about dosing bacteria. In retrospect, I was confused about some folks complaining that it killed or damaged their entire tank. I had never heard of bacteria damaging livestock or killing algae but I’m ignorant and lazy so what do I know about bacteria. Finding out it is an algaecide squares up with reality and makes more sense than bacteria.

"If you've been around long enough"...come on. You know I've been in this hobby for at least 6 months and have it all down!

It’s crazy to me that something can be market as something completely different and no one’s the wiser for years. No one bothered to put it under a microscope or copy their idea.

I can literally sell a bottle of Sam’s club water and market it as beneficial bacteria to clear hair algae and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Are there no laws against false advertising? Probably state by state unless fda or usda is involved?

Oh I’ve used it as recent as a month before I knew what it actually was. Fun fact, I’ve used it heavily in few month periods, multiple times over multiple years in my secondary system, which is all kinds of softies and LpS. No effect in that system to the corals themselves. I never made note of the things around them, meaning the side effects. I mostly weathered the storms, but who knows. I’ve had a couple rounds of die offs, same as anyone. Not sure if it was because of the vibrant or the effect it had on the environment around the corals. I never came into the situation informed to begin with, so even with people dosing it the way they did, no one has much accurate feedback.

I just found this awesome new product out. Cody will you try this and let me know? They say it safely removes AEFW’s! Yip eeeeee!! :ROFLMAO:

Purge is a revolutionary in tank acropora eating flatworm destroyer. Purge will flush your system of this unwanted pests. Purge is 100% reef safe for all marine animals including the most sensitive SPS corals, LPS corals, soft corals, invertebrates, starfish, clams, pods, macro algae, etc.

NOTE: Underwater Creations bottles no longer manufacturers pump style bottles. Shipping damage was a problem with the pump style bottles & they were more difficult to use than the current pop-top style bottles. If you order Underwater Creations products from another supplier and they arrive in with a pump style bottle then the product is likely expired. We order from the manufacturer every 30-45 days so we always have new stock in rotation.
