I'm not sure if this is something located on an apex or if there's something similar in the market for cheaper but wink.com sells a water detector that will notify you on your phone of any precipitation. The product is called the overflow and is only $35.00, which is pretty cheap considering the peace of mind you'll have.

I've a switch in that I'll be trying to connect to my Apex via the break out box.

It runs on 12V DC and has 2 other leads to switch a relay. It is these leads I hope will work with the BoB.

My plan is to try and hook it all up this weekend. Let it trip a virtual outlet and build the alarm schedule (sound, SMS, email) off of that.

That's the plan, anyway. We'll see how the execution goes.

I don't think this will work with your apex, the I/O Breakout box is only 3-3.5v IIRC
