So if it is not all the way through I would clean it with denatured alcohol first.

Then I would probably install the bulkhead (tightened) and then put some silicone on the rest of the scratch.

And it will be safe from the cracks not spread and or the glass break? I was thinking about putting the aquarium sealant on the inside on top of the cracks and that fancy sealant from Flexi Seal and get their tape they have been showing on Tv to keep water in for whatever item ithat has puncture in it underneath the glass.

I would not to say the fissure wont spread or become a crack all the way through the glass (we just don't know..) , and none of these products are going to prevent them from doing so unfortunately. This is one of those area's were acrylic tanks are better as there are ways to bond/fill fissures and cracks..

If the fissure is not all the way through and you are comfortable with the level of risk knowing they are there, then I would proceed with cleaning it to remove grime/oils/etc., install the bulkhead and then cover the fissure with silicone.. In this situation I would be tempted to go ahead and spread the silicone around the outside edge of the bulkhead near the fissure..

Which denatured alcohol is the best "brand wise" ?

as far as I know they are all the same... I buy mine at lowes.. denatured alcohol is mostly ethanol with some methanol and/or other things mixed in to kill you if you drink it..lol

Maybe I'm being paranoid here but I would not use that tank without serious repair. Those cracks are full depth. What I would do is drill a hole large enough to entirely remove the original hole and the crack. Then you can silicone a piece of glass the same thickness as the bottom panel over the new hole. You can drill a new hole assuming there is still room.

Cracks are not all the way through. But I placed a call to BRS since I watched their videos on drilling the holes and installing overflow boxes and they told me that more then likely those cracks where already there. Because hand tighten and a little over tighten that bottom glass would would gets those cracks and the tank company should replace the tank. So now I am waiting for Aqueon to return my call regarding their warranties.

you also have to worry about the bottom being tempered as well.. a lot of those companies will drill the holes etc. and then temper the glass...but you should be able to look it up.. or there maybe a tag on the bottom.. my 90 bottom is tempered..

I think it is tempered glass on the bottom. And I got depressing news about Aqueon that when they send out a replacement tank it is a scratch and dental tank.

Not sure how they calculated the full weight. If I remember correctly it is I think 8lbs per gallon. If that is correct and they are only calculating water. I come up with 1440 and 1722 with water and water weight I side the tank.

Got my email back from Aqueon they said to take the tank back to the store where i got it from and they should replace it with a new tank.
Since I just bought it two weeks ago and still has full warranty on it too.

that's a pain but much better than trying to repair. hopefully they won't give you any flack about exchanging it.
