Is it safe to make RO/DI water right now? I know they are saying to boil the water, will the RO/DI clean anything that may be in it?

I don't think the RO/DI cleans the bacteria they are worried about. However, I also don't know if the fish/corals can get sick from the same bacteria that would make us sick. I'd avoid using it.

If you absolutly need it maybe you can make RO/DI water and then set up a crawfish pot or something like that and boil a lot. But it would take forever to cool off enough to use.

I've been running my intank pumps off and on during the day off an inverter from my car battery. At night nothing is running. My tank has not gotten above 80 which is helping. I made 30 gallons of water before the storm and changing 4 gallons or so a few times a day. My tank is fine so far and I'm hoping for the best.

Good luck to you, your family and your tank.

A good UV will kill the bacteria that you're concerned about so if you can find one the I'd say the RO/DI filtered circulated through a UV would do the trick.

Any other opinions?

I have 40 Gallons of RO/DI and another 50 gallons of RO/DI in my mixing tank so it might have some trace salt in it. I have not mixed it yet so it can still be used for top off. I can also mix it if someone needs some prepared water. I can make another 100 gallons per day.
