Hey gang,

Anyone know where I could find some plastic barrels or large tanks near NW Houston? I'd like to find a drum but I could easily settle for the 50 gallon garbage can as well. Need to start curing some rock and mixing some salt water.

Cheers,

Robert

Those black rectangular tubs with the yellow tops are reef safe and are fairly inexpensive. You can also look on Craigslist for 50g drums. I have seen posts up from a shop selling them for pretty cheap. They had distilled vinegar in them so they are food grade, but may need a good cleaning first.

For a new container, you can't beat Protank. They're at 59 and beltway 8. Their prices beat anything that I could find online, plus you don't pay for shipping. Good customer service too.

Coo! I'll go check it out. Funny thing....there's been a guy selling plastic drums from the back of his truck on 249 forever.....except now...when I need one. ;)

I agree with Cody. That’s a great company.

You could also get a few Rubbermaid vats at tractor supply. Probably the best and cheapest way to cure some rock w/o doing it in buckets or drums. I have some rock that’s been curing and IMO getting good water-flow is key.

This being Texas and all things being equal there's an outfit that has great prices and is a 2+ hour drive from Tomball called National Tank Outlet. Their plant is in Fairfield so if you're looking to take a drive or make a day of it... check em' out. There's a pretty sweet looking 65 gallon tank for $110 for my RO/Saltwater storage. I might try it just for the adventure.

$25 for pickup or $145 shipped FDA approved
