78 to 79 but during summer it'll creep to 80 and even 81 with the lights on during the day. I've never observed anything that correlated with temp but I've never experimented outside that range :/

Might be a good idea it keep it a bit warmer than usual. Especially if you think the power might go out due to severe weather.

I tend to keep my tank temp closer to my ambient temperature. So I'm in the 76-78 range

Unless you're trying to deal with Dinos or ich, I Don't see any reason to purposely run a higher tempeture.

If keep your house cool and your tank warm you are basically just paying for them both to fight each other.

I'm just researching optimal temp for our corals. A lot of them are found in shallow reefs which can run 80+ degrees.

Corals typically grow a little faster in warmer water, but the colors can lack. Some corals may perfer higher temps while others lower, but it really just depends on the species and where they were collected. It’s impossible to accommodate them all. LPS and Softies may enjoy lower temps, because they’re usually collected in deeper water. I’d say most SPS generally do well around 76-83ish which is pretty broad. Keep in mind that 80+ degrees (although good for some) can lead to some undesirable issues such as reduced dissolved oxygen, funky bacterial blooms, or accelerated algae growth. Warmer temps may also inhibit certain waste eliminating bacteria which need sufficient oxygen levels to effectively work. It’s a double edged sword my friend which is why I choose the middle ground of 77-79ish.

Thanks. I've been keeping a close eye on my mix reef. I'm keeping it at 79.

However, still keeping my nano at 82 to continue fighting dino. There are only anemones and clowns in it. So far it's been great battling it. Will probably lower it to 80 this week.
