I ended up bringing a live sand dollar home from Corpus Christi today. Does anybody have an idea for how to care for these?

It appears possible if you have the right size sand and plenty of space.
Not sure as to which part of that thread you're referring to. I read both pages of it and nobody could attest to keeping them for any length of time. The only comments were about how difficult they are to keep. Much like a sand sifting star, they'll slowly starve to death. I've never tried to keep one. I'm just going off of everything I've ever read about those who have.
