Ok, my tank looks fine, all corals fine except one.
My large colt coral lately has been looking like garbage. Actually, half of it has been, the other half looks fine.

I haven't had time to go get a water test, but did do a water change yesterday because of it.

What can cause soft corals to go down hill??

No new additions to tank in last month except metal halide lights.

Probally the MH. It will take it a while to get used to the new light. Can you move it farther down in the tank or shade it?

colts

Colts are prone to mucous and bacterial problems. Is the half that is looking ok, on the top or one of the sides?
If it is on top, it may be lighting, but should really only affect the area exposed to light(ie Tips of branches). If it is right or left side, front or back. Then I would say sometime is irritating it. (shrimp, coral sting, crab, snail)
I would inspect closely an look for any spots of irritation, excess mucous, or other signs of concern. Run carbon, and give more water flow if its not being blown sideways already. And be ready to pull it out of tank if it looks like its taking a nose dive. You can easily frag it adn it wil grow back quickly. I had a basketball sized colt that I fragged off one small branch and traded to rest off. It took very few months before a small frag becomes a monster again.
Carbon and flow...

Its getting pretty good flow, not being blown over, but it waves constantly in the current.
It is the right half that isn't looking good. No corals in reach of it though to sting it.

I've debated trying to cut off the part that isn't looking healthy.

I know what you mean about quick growth, this thing was less than a 1 inch frag when I got it.
now its the biggest coral in my tank.

My colt will go through periods where it does not expand fully or even just stays shut for days upon days. Not sure why. I would just let it be unless it is getting slimey or looks like it is melting.
