I have had problems with the power going out because of all the weather we are having. I don't know much about halide ballasts or even which kind I have, but I have already ruined a fairly new XM 250. I am sure you all know that you are not suppose to turn a bulb back on while it is hot. What can I did to prevent this from happening again?

I know the IceCap ballasts have a safety feature that will not refire the bulb for about 10 minutes after it is powered off. Since your ballast apparently doesn't have that feature, I guess a UPS would be your next best bet.
