About 3 weeks ago I bought a Sea Hare and a couple of Mexican turbo snails to clean up a lot of hair algae that I had and they did a great job. Problem is I still have the snails and the Sea Hare but not much algea left. I don't have any fish in my tank yet but I will start adding those very soon but I don't think my Sea Hare can survive long term unless I start feeding it. So what should I do? Should I just leave the SH, should I sell/trade with someone for it or should I keep him him and start feeding it? (Also if I keep it what do I feed it?)

Thanks....

Go to your local asian market and purchase some nori sheets (used for making sushi). Be sure to get the plain, unseasoned kind.

You can then secure pieces of the sheets with small pieces of LR or nori clips.

The seahare will eat this until you can find it another home.

I would be happy to "feed" your sea hare for awhile. Rent "A" Hare. LMK if you are up for it.
thanks

If anyone is interested in coming to my place I would be happy to give you my hare. If you had something to trade for it, even better! I'm located a little north of Galveston where I-45 and Highway 6 intersect.

A general warning to anyone who is not familiar with Sea Hares. We had a very sweet, hard working fellow. My son keeps his mag float in the aquarium up in a corner because he heard it is better to store that way????
He didn't look before scrubbing with the Mag float and our little guy (3-4 inches) was curled up in there.
Needless to say they do release a ink like substance as a defense but this was a little more than just ink. (Steamroller equivalent)
Very tragic. We were so upset over such an honorable hard working guy coming to such an undiginifed end.

I'm going to be giving my sea hare to someone this weekend and I was considering moving him to my refugium where I have a bunch of chaeto. Would this be a good idea? There are two primary reasons for the move. First becasue there isn't much algae left in my tank. Secondly the sea hare is frequently back in amongst the live rock and I really don't want to go about moving all that rock around to try and find him when the guy comes to get the hare. It would be far easier to move him when he comes out and I get a chance to do so here in the next day or so.

Thoughts????
