my phosphate is way off. what can i use to lower it? Can i use phosphate pad? would it work? how about phosphate sponge. Did 20% water change last nite and it went down a little. BTW i dont overfeed and MH is normally on for 6-8 hr/day. Thanks

What do you use as a water source? Phosphate has to be added from some source for it to be present. Either through water that has phosphate, overfeeding, buffers, some carbon, etc.

Also, check your food. Most frozen foods (that I use) have a phosphate as a preservative, second ingrediant....

As for your current problem:

I used Phos-Ban (or was it Phos-Zorb?) in my tank for about 6 months to correct my problem. It acutally works in about 24 - 48 hours, and REMARKABLY reduces the PO4 levels. I went from 3 ppm (really, 3.00) down to 0.3 in about a day and a half.

i tested my RO before placing it in my system. Perhaps it came from Kent alk buffer. Will look into Phosban thanks

I got a 1 Liter sized container of Phosban at Planet Fish. There are different sizes around if you look for it, but PF didn't carry any others.
