I'm going to give away my age here...
My first job was a lifeguard at the local pool, it was a city job and paid $8 a day. Then I got a paper route, think I made about $70 - $80 a month (big $$ for a 14 y/o). Then I washed crop dusters at night during the spring time - $1.50 an hour. Then I worked on the rice farms in the area, $15 a day. Between junior and senior year, I got a job with a construction company that was repaving the streets in our little town. That job paid $1.85 but we got LOTS of overtime. During senior year, I learned how to arc weld, so after graduation, I got a job with an oilfield construction company as a welder - $2.50 an hour. The man who owned that company also had a rice farm, so when there wasn't any welding to be done, I would go out to his farm and work on the farm equipment.
