Braces for a huge in-wall?

oh i would love to see that. i second that vote. but how big does a tank have to be to need steel bracing for the walls??? that sounds amazing.

alright, i cant stand it anymore, i was excited but you are talking 500g inwalls and stuff haha.....

i dont know how many of you remember i did a 125 build about a year ago (build thread here: http://www.marshreef.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=18355&highlight=tank+build)...well it has been running for a year, and have had some problems with fish dieing, so it sat w/ no fish and just coral and rock for a while, and i put 3 green chromis in there because i didnt like feeding nothing....i am a broke teenager so the plan was to slowly add cured pieces of rock to the tank until it was full, i got about 60-70lbs in it, and my paramiters went all out of wack and i lost my fish...

i have been brainstorming this idea for 2 months or so now, toying with idea's, fixing the mistakes i made with the 125, etc....since i got accepted to UH today, i will probably be moving this tank around atleast once, so having a smaller tank would make it alot more flexable to move, and i decided i would much rather have a breathtaking 40 gallon tank, then an alrite 125 gallon tank...

what i decided to do, is build a cabinet that is 4' long (to keep my 55g sump that i built for my 125) and picture frame a 40 breeder as the display. I will also be re-working my sump to reach my needs more...then a while back i bought an oceans motions to put on my 125 that never got installed, so will be installing that, all 4 ports....

the tank itself will have dual corner overflows, the 4 port oceans motions, will try to retain my mag 9.5, 55 gallon sump/refuge, will be running BB this time w/ some starboard, i will make a little sketch of what i kind of have in my head as a cabinet to put my equipment in..

also to clear things up, i decided on an iron frame instead of wood, to keep it smaller, so i can fit it in and out of doorways easier, and to give me more versatility w/ putting in doors on the sides to access plumbing, etc...

i will be adding drawings and sketches of my cabinet design and answer more questions cuz im sure i forgot something...

then we decided the best way to get all this to work was to build a jig that we could use to make sure all our peices are the same size and square...

I'm sure you've measured everything out but... just in case  Don't' know how tall your stand is, but with having drawers under where the sump, refugium, skimmer and all go, just make sure you will have plenty of clearance to get to everything. It looks nice, your leg on the other hand... well, ouch!

welded up 2 more of the square frames today, going a bit quicker now that i kinda know whats going on...and no injurys!!! lol i only have 1 more odball frame to do and then im attatching it to the legs, grinding and painting....today i was at home depot and found a can of spraypaint, cant remember what its called off the top of my head but it is like the stuff you can buy to dip pliars handles into and it gives them a plastic/rubber coating. Im going to test it tomorow to see if it will give me a good coat to protect the iron from the saltwater and things should be rolling pretty quick after i get it painted...

some updates, finish welding all the square frames, and attatched the legs w/ 2 of them making a box, are only double tacked in place on each corner, so have to put the other 2 shelves in, and weld them all up..and the metal working is done.
