When to change DI resin? (1 Viewer)

So here's what I'm thinking so far. The board would be 24" wide and 48" tall. This is just the front part that would attach to a back part. The front part will be on hinges on one side so you can open it up and see inside the little box that I'm making. Every chamber will have 90 degree elbows going back behind the main board, where the birds nest of tubes will be hidden. The lip of the front board will have blue LEDs to backlight it and make it look like it's floating. When the booster pump is turned on, aka making water, a red string will kick on too to turn the light purple. Not sure how I want to do the back bracket yet though.

The TDS meters will all be triple meters and measure the TDS as it leaves every stage.

On a side not, they make stainless steel canister to add to an RO unit, which it would be amazing looking to replace them all with considering you don't really need to see inside to begin with. However, they're about $80-90 a pop, and at six chambers, that wouldn't be cheap.

I've used this one from BRS for years. I crank my dual 150 GPD RO membranes to about 80-90 psi and the water flows like a faucet.

I actually lied. I have three PhDs of engineering on staff that I pay 250k each per year to manually turn a motor by hand to increase my water pressure. Modern electricity just doesn’t have that “bespoke” feel that manual labor does, and they need to be masters in their field to insure that the knobs are turned correctly.

So just as an update to info on this thread, BRS solved the issue a while ago, and yes you need to change your DI resin when it's exhausted, regardless of where it's at in the unit.

So has anyone considered regenerating their resin using HCL?

thought about it, but the thought of using hydrochloric acid doesn't seem like a fun time

I've read about it and I like the idea of not dumping those little beads in the trash but I am not sure how much savings it would be with the work and chemicals.

I just repacked my canisters for the first time and that was a bigger more aggravating mess than I expected.

I printed a funnel and tamper set before starting. I'm guessing because the beads have a +/- charge they stuck to the tamper and my hands and got all over the bathroom floor.

Really not that big of a deal when it comes to the safety aspect. If you don't mind treating your swimming pool why not... I have started saving all of my old resin to give this a try. Mind you i would be using better safety gear than this guy. Always protect the eyes. Caustic can cause irreversible damage quite quickly
