I am building a small canopy extension and I put some nice moulding onto some oak boards before realizing that I need to have accurate 45 degree cuts at the edges in order to make the corners look nice. I have a jigsaw but I dont trust my ability to make nice angled cuts with it, and I don't have a table saw or know anyone who does.

Is there a hardware or crafts store that will make the cuts for me? I only need 4 cuts.

Thanks

I don't believe that Home Depot or Lowes will make miter cuts. I can cut everything for you, but I do live in Texas City so I don't know how close you are. If you are on the other side of town there will probably be somewhere else on here that's closer to you that can do it. Let me know if I can help.

Any of the lumber yards will not make precision cuts. You need to find somebody close to you that can cut it for you. If you list where you live it would be easier for somebody to know if it would be feasible for them to do it. I could do it but I'm working 7 days a week now and don't get home until after 9. If you have the measurements it would only take a few minutes to cut.

I'm on the NW side and have a miter saw, so if you are nearby, I can help you with the cuts.

Thanks for all the replies and the kind offers, guys. I live in SW houston near reliant stadium, though.

I did buy the wood at lowes, and they certainly did the original cuts for me, I didnt know they would do angled cuts for me though...have any of you had this done there?

I know the Lowes near me does NOT do angled/mitred cuts. They will only do straight cuts to length, and you have to buy the wood from them. They will only cut wood you are going to purchase... not wood that has already been purchased, even if you purchased from them in the first place. I think that the same holds true for Home Depot.

I think that your best bet is to find someone on the web site that has the equipment and proximity and willingness to do it for you. Good luck, and post pics of the canopy when it is done.

Going thru the yahoo yellow pages under 'carpenter', I was able to find a carpenter near me who kindly made the cuts I needed, and even did some extra sanding and assembling with his power tools that would have taken me hours to do on my own.

A good resource for those of you who like me admit that our DIY skills are not that great and that DIFM [do it for me] is a better option!

Thanks for all the help
