i've bought the acrylite brand acryllic at professional plastics, which is in stafford (on the beltway near 288 south) i think. i bought a full 4x8 sheet for a little over 100 bucks, but it was more than i needed. they cut it in thirds for me so it would fit in my car (for free). they didnt have weldon 40, so i ordered that online (out of some place in dallas), but they did have weldon 16. i bet they could get 40 for you if you called and asked. they have a website with contact information(www.professionalplastics.com). here's a photo of the sump i built with it...

I need to check with the local plastic suppliers myself as i am working on an acrylic project too. You want to stay away from Lowe's & Home Depot stuff as it is extruded and you want to be sure to get cast acrylic. When searching around, you will want to inquire about Polycast, Acrylite & Plexiglas-G as they are the best acrylic materials (per acrylic guru's on RC). Hope that helps, let us know what you find!

Regal Plastics will give you better service and actuarially seem to want you there however if your closer to Professional Plastics... they will sale to you but you will feel like your just bugging them the whole time :). Also not sure if PP has the glue but Regal Plastics has Weldon 3, 4 and 16 as well as drill bits and applicators.

Niko5 - Did you just stop in to PP? I called ahead and kind of explained what i was trying to do, and they were rather accommodating. I think they are used to little more of a wholesale setting, as opposed to retail, which may explain their perceived irritance. Not that it's an excuse...

thanks, hurdicuss!

Ok so I ended up going to Aero Plastics. They told me that they would have to build my sump out of a sheet which costs 104 bucks a pop because scrap is considered anything under 12"sf. So it ended up for a 35x20x16 sump with no baffles cut out to $161 new. But he "found" a whole peice in the back that had "fallen off of his truck" and sold it to me cut for $108. I went ahead and took it as the guy who cut it did a great job and they have all the weld on that you need. Does anyone know where there is a shop that I can take my acrylite to on the south side of town (as close to Clear Lake as Possible) so I don't have to drive all the way to 290?
