I think AGE are the nicest.... aquarium obsessed are cheaper generally although definately get a quote from both

the budget option is glass cages

I just bought an AGE tank, the service was amazing, i communicated with chris to order it you can contact him through the website...80 emails worth...it was made perfectly, and it was sooo easy... communication was always fast and prompt

Check out the shipping charges before you order from Aquarium Obsessed.

I would also get a quote from ADG and Fish Gallery locally.

Almost all of the LFS's have their sources too. T&T uses Deep Sea which makes really nice tanks, but they are very expensive.

lol I was wondering just when used tanks would become pre-owned tanks.

fish gallery own AGE

aquarium obsessed's shipping actually isnt bad at all, whats more they usually offer a discount within a time frame or will cut their margin... the us dollars strength means good prices with them at the moment

deep sea quoted higher for me than AGE did, also I found that depending on the measurements some companies prices jump or drop considerably.....for example AO were considerably cheaper if you had to go up to 3/4" glass

That was my first thought however Iv asked for a quote 4 different times...

1st by leaving a note for the guy who does that (because he was out)
2nd by talking to the guy who supposably does that and waiting for a call back
3rd handing a piece of paper with my specs on it to a store employee
and finely 4th by sending a quote request online.

None have been responded to.

That's why I ordered my previous tank from glasscages. Most of the local stores do not take their customers seriously.

Nick,

Which LFS did not reply. There are three mentioned but I'm unclear which did not respond. I can't believe the all did not respond.

Also, what are you looking for? I want more on size and plans.

Nick,
When I was looking for my son 185gal. I got a quote from 4 company. The tank has 3/4" glass w/o a cneter brace (60x30x25). The priced quoted was in Nov-Dec 08.

Deep Sea Aquatics $1200
Aquarium Obsessed $1900 shipped
AGE $2800
Glass Cage $1700

Been there, done that on a local basis and moved on. I personally don't beg for someone to take my money.
Local is my preferred choice but I waited 2 weeks for a local reply from three companies I contacted. I guess the custom business is booming and tanks under 6 feet are not worth the time for locals. Although in another another country Aquarium Obsessed returned my call the same day. I felt they wanted my business and went with them.

My only deduction is a 2000.00 tank is not worth the effort for local companies for whatever reasons.

I actually had a similar experience locally in that the stores i spoke to never got back to me with the exception of t&t even with chasing them up... t&t got me the quote from deep sea aquatics

as mark said will at AO was excellent at communicating

With regards to LFS i should think custom tanks are worth their while, when someone gets a custom tank they often get other stuff from that store, often ordering the whole setup through them..

Nick, not to get off topic, but you should be getting some orders in for kalk reactors. Hopefully, just trying to do some advertising and help out.
