I have a scopas tang developing white furry spots on it's sides. Any suggestions on how to take car of it?

Well it could be ick, might be specs of sand as well. Do you have a bare bottom tank or substrate?
When mine had ick I overfed and soaked all the food in garlic and it eventually went away. There is a but though, the fish has to have a good immune system to get well a long with the feeding with garlic.
Also I got a cleaner shrimp to help
