I need to get one and forgot exactly how/where to set the temp on the heater’s as opposed to the temp on the Inkbird.
Let me know!

Just set the temp on the heater at the max end you want and let the inkbird turn it off. Let the inkbird do the work so you don't wear out your apex. The apex should be your final way to turn heaters off/on. I just buy 500 watt titanium heaters w/o controllers, use the inkbird, use the apex.I need to get one and forgot exactly how/where to set the temp on the heater’s as opposed to the temp on the Inkbird.

Ok, I will do that. I don’t have an apex though.Just set the temp on the heater at the max end you want and let the inkbird turn it off. Let the inkbird do the work so you don't wear out your apex. Hydros will do the same.Ok, I will do that. I don’t have an apex though.
Cause most heaters internal temp controllers are no good and just wind up wearing out the heater faster. Even my aqua vitro ones are doneski. Almost every brand I've had issues with. Even my eheim 50 watt in a 40 gal AIO keeps my tank at 80.1 consistently with it turned down. Bought a hyddor controller to try out on it. The thing is we want stability and swinging more then 1 degree daily is too much for me. I now run 1 smallĺ and 1 large heater on my DTs. With controllers then apex to keep stability and not have to depend on the controllers turning on and off too often. Just have to find the right watt heater that pretty much stays on most the time. This works for me as I keep my home at 71*, my AC is my chiller.I'm late to answer but will throw my 2 cents at it. If the heater has internal control like the glass hyger ones do or aquael, set that for your desired temp and let the heater turn itself on and off. Set the inkbird to a degree or two higher than that. Then set your hydros a degree or two higher than that. That way you follow the flow of power backwards from the heater. If the heater fails on, the ink bird kills it. The inkbird fails your hydros kills that. You also have the visual of where the power ends at.
If you have the titanium heaters or one that needs the external controller. Set the inkbird to the desired temp with a minus two or three degrees so you're not bagging them on and off. Then the hydros for two or three degrees above desired temperature.
In my mind the more you use it, the quicker it wears out. 1 to 2 degree drops won't hurt anything over the course of hours. 5+ degree changes is where I'd be concerned. But 71 degree house? Naw man too cold for my bones.Cause most heaters internal temp controllers are no good and just wind up wearing out the heater faster. Even my aqua vitro ones are doneski. Has its own app to monitor and adjust the controller..What's the deal with the Wifi ones? The controller on the unit is pretty easy to use and adjust.
I've lost far less money in Vegas than I have in this hobby! hahaDon't do it!!..a casino got hacked through one of those fancy wifi heaters. Come on, push the buttons..pretend it's vegas lol
You weren't trying hard enough...where's the dislike button on here?I've lost far less money in Vegas than I have in this hobby! haha
