Well,

AT&T came out and ran a new cable into the house. We were experiencing Internet drop-outs and they determined a new physical cable was in order. To "help" us they only ran the cable through the nearest wall, putting in a new router in a new location.

So now the Apex and one computer is no longer connected to the Internet.

The one bad thing about the Apex is the difficulty one has with using the head unit do do anything. You almost need the Internet to physically affect your settings. Even my tank has become a slave to Skynet.

I've a wireless bridge coming in and I need to reset the pinhole in the router...fun fun!

So why am I bothering you with all this? I dunno. Monday, I guess.

Interesting you mention Internet drop outs. We've been having this issue all week too and we have at&t. In fact one computer and our printer wont even connect to our wireless any longer, I have to connect it through Ethernet a wireless extender.

I really hate AT&T Internet service. I've always found it to be to slow even with u verse. I'm using comcast now just for the broadband and getting well over 50 Mbps.[emoji106]

That's funny, I hate Comcast, three years later and they are still sending collection calls on a router their techs never showed up to deliver and cables they never showed up to install, after three service appts. So we went back to AT&T. This is the first issue we've had so far. We do not have uverse.

Customer service wise I hate Comcast too. I think it is the worst I ever dealt with. I'm in it purely for the high speed. I also use my own equipment, far better than anything you can rent from these companies.

My apex comes tomorrow, so we will see if I have any issues with the Internet still by then. We've changed settings on our router and so far no more drop outs, the one computer and printer still don't connect wirelessly.

I have mine hard wired and can also go wireless. I have comcast with no issues.

Fusion is plug and play.

Hard wiring the system is good because it's needed to update the firmware.

If you guys need help, let me know.

Hard wired would be best. It's a pain braking out the 30 foot cable just for firmware updates.

Can't hard-wire anymore. I used to have a hard-wired connection to the router but when it was moved across the house, the wired option moved with it.

I'm getting a bridge. I'm aware I can't do firmware updates with the bridge but a laptop hooked to the apex will be fine for that.

I'm not expecting too many issues hooking the system up under the new configuration. But I've been wrong before... Will keep you posted.

Yeah, I believe you can do it like that.

I don't think you'll have many issues with Fusion.

When I moved, I ran 100' of Cat 6 and plugged it up. Connected to my new wifi, and was up and running in minutes.

The best you can do for your Apex device is setup an old wifi router with the dd-wrt firmware and hard connect your apex, then later if you need to run a firmware update, you should have extra ports for hook up your laptop even extra network devices. You have to setup the router as a repeater bridge so it will catch your home wifi signal

Thanks.

Just going to put a gaming bridge in. It'll be here tomorrow. All will be well soon.

In other news someone has, again, made me a manager to their Apex through Fusion. This is the third time this has happened.

I was a very early adopter of Fusion. Because I chose a rather ubiquitous username, I get to see a lot of units. Other people think they are creating a user account to their own units but they don't really know how Fusion works. They grant me full control. Scary, huh?

If you create a profile in Fusion, make DARN SURE you are are specifying YOUR username.

It is easy enough to fix. I just go in and remove myself as a manager from their unit. It only gets annoying if they're sophisticated enough with Fusion to set up alerts. Then I start getting emails with their alerts.

Bridge came in. Hooked it up to the network and plugged it in.

I discovered my Apex needed a firmware update. There were a few hoops to jump through as I cannot connect the unit to the router (well, maybe with a 100' cord which I don't have) and you can't update over wireless. No worries. Created a subnetwork and the update went fine. Nothing that isn't well-covered on the Neptune web site.

So, I'm back to controlling and monitoring the tank via the phone and web.
