Well, Compusa had one I looked at tonight for $999 -$100 mail in rebate. It normally does not come with a flash card, but running a special this week. The guy at the counter told me that the camera does not have ANY internal memory, and therefore can not take a photo unless you buy a flash card to go with it. I can not see how that would be true. Any input on that subject?

Most Digital Cameras write to some type of storage media, i.e. compactflash, smartmedia, memory stick, micro drive.

Yes, I know. And "most" also have a limited amount of internal storage. That is why I can not believe the salesman is correct on needing a mem stick right away.

The salesman is correct. There are very few digital cams that have internal memory. Casio seems to be one of the exceptions. Looking through dpreview I couldn't find a single pro-sumer, or dSLR that had ANY internal memory. Some of them (pro-sumer models) come with a memory card, but some don't. I couldn't find a single dSLR's that comes packaged with memory.
