Here’s the exact model I use and have installed for others, plus the best price I’ve found.
Sure, it’s $180 more than the DOS. Having said that, that DOS isn’t going to work. Let alone the lack of head pressure they can push, you have two different pumps on two different axels with two different motors. How far/high away is the drain tube outlet going to be compared to the new water inlet? When one motor fails, how is that going to effect things? If you can accurately calibrate the motors for an even exchange then how long before the extra head pressure on the one pump throws that off? Do you have a salinity probe? I would absolutely have one so that I could catch a failure before it’s too late. I’m looking up salinity probes now, and they cost about $150, which is about how much more the stenner is than the DOS.
Short story long, those DOS pumps aren’t made for your application. An automatic water change is arguably the single most influential piece of equipment you can implement on your system. We spend hundreds of dollars on skimmers, while an AWC pump can not only export nutrients, but dose literally all the trace elements at the same time while you’re watching a movie on the couch. Invest in the proper equipment if you’re going to do it. My oldest stenner has been running daily for six years, five of which have been 10 feet in the air with a 30 foot run. Only had to change the tubes once as a precautionary maintenance. Worth every penny.
Edit: full disclosure, they’re not quiet. I enjoy that though. I hear the hum in my garage and it lets me know they’re working.
