    You could check the Vectra to verify it's not getting stuck and overheating. They had that issue a while ago and replaced a bunch including mine. My Eheim return is the same temp as my tank water. If it's running hotter than your water then it's basically a small heater

    A pump more than likely. Get a infrared thermometer and point it around to find heat the source

    I did that for most of the day yesterday but never raised temp. I think it bought some time like you said. When my power did come back on for a few hours, i aimed a space heater under the sump and kinda sealed it leaving small cracks. Worked like a charm. Temp went up 7 degrees in about 5 hrs...
