It was nice meeting you and your wife, Ty. Though, I didn't have much time to talk shop... or talk much. Sorry about that. I'm usually a chatterbox, but I had to meet Tin for some other frags I wanted. :) Pleasure, and thanks for the hookup! Next time, I'll drive to you because I really need me a Wahoo's Outer Reef Burrito and a couple of double-doubles with animal fries from In-and-Out. LOL!

Tin, always a pleasure man! Your setup has the fattest fish I've seen in the Houston area, by far! I had no idea that cardinals got that big! My tank is loving the corals, and they settled the "best" out of all the corals I got this weekend. Could be that they are all softies. ;)

Andre, you're tank was amazing, too! I like that your approach is very similar to what I'm used to seeing, and your colonies speak for themselves!

So, yeah... Saturday was a long day. I clocked over 300 miles on my truck (loving the ecodiesel) and scored over 40 corals. Tinman, ATXAcroFarmer, and PSXerholic... Thanks guys!

Hmmm... wonder if I should start dosing now. LOL

Leo,
thanks for coming by........had no idea who you are while taking that much of Corals.
Good to know they found a good home, looking forward to see my minis growing in your tank.

Time for some FTS to document the progress.

Good luck, following now.

-Andre

False alarm man. It's back to normal again. I have no idea what that was about, but I'm assuming my ORP was re-stabilizing. They say it can take up to a week for that. Either way, my numbers are spot on again. Weird...

In other news, Tinman forced me to come over to his house and get more coral! 8 pieces to be exact (small colonies, really). My poor tank.

I am sorry to hear that :noidea:

I'll try to get one tonight, 'Dre! :) Nothing special, as of now... especially after my mini-tank-tour this weekend. You guys made me realize I still had diapers on. LOL

I just have all the frags on a rack that I made, and some softies and LPS on the bottom. Nothing special. Rocks are getting nice and green now, so I added 10 turbos in there. I couldn't find any smaller snails around here. :(

I just ordered some actinic supplemental LED strips for the fixture. I got two of them, one driver to power both, and they are both 48". They should give me a lot of pop, and even some PAR values. I also order some rubber gloves because I'm tired of drying my arms off every time I have to get wet. I got 2 different types of tank tongs and some more salt. Oh, I even ordered a little refridgerator for the fish room so I don't have to keep going back and forth the kitchen. ::cough:: LAZY! ::cough::

Dang, Tin! You're the hook ups, brutha! I'll get with you on those. Been wanting some for a long time now.

I didn't get a photo last night because I had a class. I'm purdy stoked about this class because it's all about photography. I've always wanted to take classes, so why not now? :)

Anyway... my tank decided to start cycling again. I think it's the sudden slap in the face (aka corals) that I gave it. I think I'm over 50 strong now. All are polyp'd up, and sitting in about 300 PAR, with perfect parameters... I may glue them down this weekend, but I'll need to raise my fixture.

Oh, my LED strips came in and they are lower profile than I thought. I was really hoping so. Now... to mount them...

Nothing new other than I'm still working on getting this class done in photography. I'm definitely learning a lot!!! And, there's a lot I (luckily) learned along the way.

So, what do you think of my first "amateur" photo?

IMG_0895%20WM-L.jpg

Just made it for fun, and it was surprisingly simpler than I thought.. I can't believe I've owned 3 different dSLR's and never learned these fundamentals. Isn't it funny how we'll spend thousands on equipment, but not even pay a fraction of that for classes to learn the equipment? LOL! :soapbox: I really feel like a tool for never doing this to begin with.

I still have 2 more classes to go to be done with the "Beginner Classes," but I'm probably going to continue with the 2nd grouping of classes. I really want to get better because it's really a lot of fun.

Sorry guys... I've been so busy with "life" that I haven't had too many chances to update the thread. It "kinda'" all fits together, though. :inout:

Thanks guys!

Very little saturation on those shots, believe it or not. I did use photoshop though, because it's part of the curriculum. That's almost as hard as getting a good photo.

I couldn't imagine doing this for a living. Props, Dennis (and all you other pro-tographers in the building)!

Thanks man! I am using a Canon 70D with a Canon 50mm EF f/1.4 fixed lens. I love this lens! It's very versatile and takes jaw dropping photos (so I've learned)! It doesn't have a zoom, but it came highly recommended. No regrets here.

I have a nice macro lens, and some extensions too, but they are a little too advanced for me right now. I have tried using the macro in the past and the results left a ton to be desired. I'm hoping to get better at it soon so I can use it to 'really' get up close!

Thanks again!

Thanks Jared and J.T.! I don't know about professional stuff, but it's nice to meet my camera. :)

Here's a couple more shots. The top is from tinman and I think it's a "tinkerbell" and the bottom is from my frag rack. The oregon tort is from ATXacrofarmer (Ty) and I'm sure a bunch on there are from PSXerholic ('Dre).

The top picture is really a travesty in photography skills... Again, it's a shot for class. I suck at sharpening and tilt-blurring. I'll take my "D-" and hope for a strong grade curve. LOL!

The "tink" has already popped-out a few more polyps! That's great to see already! Also, the SPS, that were fresh cut 2 weeks ago, are starting to already encrust over the glue!

Can't help but highly recommend these locals for frags, guys! I haven't had a single coral die.

I tried to kill an Echinata that Tin gave me, though. LOL! (Accidentally hit it with a cleaning magnet, and knocked the tip off). It's going to make it though!
