Okay I have been redoing my 20L nano.
here is what i have done
i bought a new 20L from global had it drilled with a 1" bulkhead. I installed a internal overflow box (5x5x5) made by nick (thanks).
I sprayed "great stuff" on the back and spinkled sand on it. I left 2inches next to the overflow box where the return will be "T" off next to it. I have just finished the stand. i built it out of 2x4s and 2/4 plywood. stained it a dark color and added a varnish to it. For the filter I have a 10 gallon tank that has been turned into a refugium. I will have a cpr bak pak on it and a phosban reactor. For the return pump i will be using a quiet one 3000 pump since it has low heat transfer with 1" or 3/4 return plumbing. I plan on mounting 2 4" computer fans in the sump area for cooling since one drought the temp down under the hood down 2 degrees or I might run one clip on fan by the sump and one in the hood. Today ill redo the hood so that it will match the stand since the current one is black. I want to find a new way to mount my vho lamps with out screwing in the endcaps. might go with nicks acrylic vho bulb holders. Ill get some pics of the stand and tank tonight. this is my first DIY attempt so no laughing now :-x

July 22nd and 23rd are the setup dates. my girlfriend will be cleaning up my room and ill be doing the tank swap. until then im planning on fininishing the new hood. wich is cup just needs to be put to geather, stained and varnished.
then i have to set up my .75 gallon pico. then the 6 gallon tank at work. Im crating up my 90 and putting it in storage. Im hoping to buy a new house in a year or so so i dont want to set up a big tank and dont want to spend a ton of money on that one yet.

Good looking set up. Just one question, what did you spray on the inside of your main tank? :?

"Great Stuff" foam then I added south down sand. I have 5 5 gallon buckets of it and figured what the hell i need to use it for something and it would give a neat texture. the space next to the overflow box is where the return line will be at.

updated: I finished the canopy. its not satisfactory but it will do. some of the plywood was warped but o-well. I installed two 4 inch fans. one doesnt work so im taking it taking it back. i have one fan blowing air in and one is pulling the air out. Im going to try this at first and see how well it works and if it doesnt work well then ill flip it around. Now im waiting for the vho bulb clips.

If the back is open or if there is an opening anyhwere in the hood besides the fan holes i would strongly suggest putting both fans blowing in.

the back is wide open beside the piece of wood to hold the fand. Its a 1x1.

Yeah, then i would say put both fans facing inwards. It will provide much more cooling than having one pull air out.

well i want to try it this way and see. with one blowing in it lowers the temp 2 degrees already. so either way it wont hurt.

tanks not up. im still waiting on the hood to be finished so im using my old black hood. I have to redo the plumbing and i wont do that until my new pump gets in. but here is a pic.

okay i got the pump installed but im not happy with my flow. Incysor said i could maybe get better flow from my overflow box if i get rid of the pvc and 90s and go with spa flex and i might have to try it. My return is still to low for my likeing.
Now I'm thinking of taking out the overflow box adding a strainer to the bulkhead making a cloosed loop with a SCWD and then add the biggest aqua clear HOB filter with LR and cheato. any opions.?

Personally I don't recommend SCWDs, I've just heard too many people try them and have them fail very quickly. Other than that I think it would work fine.
