Thats a smart idea... just a clear outdoor box?
Yeah, is just a cheap weatherproof cover. Uses the two screws that mount the switch to pull it tight to the wall and has a foam gasket. Not the best outdoor weatherproof cover I have used, but good enough to keep salt water from dripping or splashing where I don't want it.

That is the one I'm using. If putting outside I might get a nicer one, but this one seems to work well enough.

Filling with RODI and making sure two of the lights still work. Middle one is over another tank until the stuff there is moved into this one.

Canopy mostly set up. Still have to install the middle light when I move livestock over to this tank. Also pondering drilling a hole and running pvc down to have feeder on top of the canopy.

Yeah, I have no clue what that is. Almost looks like a cap leaked, but there are none. Don't see how it could be water damage either. Also, both lights worked fine for days when I tested them, been off and just turned on today even though still cycling since I wanted more light in my office and happened to look over when the second one died.

On a side note, I really wanted Sky's but had lights and could not justify the cost when I have lights that work just fine. Got a text 25% off, Sky's on the way.

Sky's mounted. Had to drill new vent holes in the canopy. Fortunately they cover the old holes as well. Just got the one that was used for T5 wires that I may repurpose as a feeder port. Can't see the wires when sitting at my desk, but may get some right angle plugs anyway.

I like that the inside of the canopy is white. I often wonder how much light is wasted being absorbed by a black canopy that could otherwise be reflected back into the tank, but have been too lazy to borrow the PAR meter and experiment.

Yeah, I painted it white when I got it. was just bare wood. Used a pure white water resistant paint. If you look into a certain "hobby" they paint the inside of small grow rooms white since it reflects 90 some % of the light in a diffused manner.

Cycle finished, I added live phyto and bypassed filtration. Once it started to bloom I added copepods. Phyto got crazy thick, but pods eventually started to win so I added test coral. Cleared up more and coral was doing well so I added a clam. Almost fully cleared up even with me adding phyto to keep pods and clam happy. I did have brown shmoo on all the rocks, but between the phyto, pods, and a few snails I added that was eliminated fast.

When the phyto started to clear up:
