Reagents for about half the price. I'm about to order a 6 month supply to check out. Unless someone wants to split the big boi kit.

@mitchell77546 is two steps ahead of you. I think he ordered some last week, plus the supplies to DIY it for even cheaper.

I posted this on major league when I got my order the other day. General consensus from everyone who has been using it is that they are just fine.

Sorry was busy with work and don’t get on here daily. So it has been pretty solid. I have only had 1 batch of reagent A that gave me jacked up results. I replaced that one and it went back to normal. I do not calibrate with their or tridents water calibration. Both have tested almost a full dkh off when I test with Hanna Red Sea and salifert as reference. I prefer this cheaper option and I feel the results are Atleast precise. I am not sure on the accuracy of any of the home testers but Atleast my trend lines are in line within expectations and the trident keeps fairly in line with my khg, yes I am running 2 alk testers I have way too much money in sps to not be keeping a close eye on alk

What are you using to calibrate your trident if not their calibration fluid? I know you can realistically use anything to calibrate them, but what are you using that you’re so certain of?

I trust the salifert more than any other test kits and I’ve used them to calibrate my trident in the past in a pinch. Just curious what your method is.

I test my tank water with multiple test kits take the average and plug that in to calibrate. Mag and calcium of the calibration fluid are pretty spot on it’s the alk that always varies wildly. 1 bottle in the last 2 years has tested correctly on the alk. I do test those in case one day it’s correct lol

And as far as mag and calcium go when I do icp testing I take test with kits to see how far they are off and if wildly I either adjust when I calibrate or buy new test kits for those it’s always been within 10-25 ppm which is within the margin of error

Which home test kits are you using to form the average? Which seems to be more accurate than the others?

So I use Hanna checker, Red Sea Pro and Salifert and also compare against my KHG which is ph based testing. My hanna is known off exactly 1dkh it’s always off that to ATI icp and khg. Red Sea and Salifert are always within .1-.2 of each other both within margin of error. Salifert is probably my favorite because the color change is more obvious. Red Sea goes from blue to green and it’s harder Atleast for me to see the change unless I wrap my hand 3/4 of the way around and block a lot of the light. One additional note on the hanna it was spot on for Atleast 2 years then not sure why it floated but it’s been consistently 1dkh off for almost as long

Been running them for about 6mos as well. It seemed like the first week I switched I had some varying results but after calibrating and letting it settle in, things have been good. Just ordered another 6 mos kit.

What does the price of DIY look like compared to the ABC brand? What kind of shelf life do these guys have after mixing it up?

I'm assuming this. $250 + 10 shipping. 260 / 5 = 52 a person. Makes almost exactly 5 sets of the 6 month supply.

I'm in if other people are in. We're just gonna have to figure out the best way to distribute the contents without us looking like drug dealers.
