I dont know if I want to do that yet but its much cheaper than a chiller... If i insulate and sheetrock the other two walls in the fish room it will be even better.

Oh you still have some bare frame? That would be my first step for sure.

We just finished drywall on an extension to the ranch house and you could feel the room temp drop with every section added. Get the room sealed, then see if you need to take additional steps. My .02

Then I'd look to the window unit if that didn't do the job. Be sure to get one with the energy saver feature so that it doesn't run and run and run.

Makes sense.

I've decided I am only going to run my pc lights for the time being, and leave the halides for later when I start to add corals. That will give me time to work on getting the room into shape and seeing whether I will really need a chiller or not.

Good thinking! This will also help the coroline algae take off. In my experience my coroline grew much faster in lower light.

sweet. I definitely need it to cover up. I have a lot of surfaces that need to get blended for my tank to look right. Still I find myself standing in front of it inspecting every day for hitch hikers and critters. I havent added any fish yet but plan to tomorrow. Went by Global Leader Aquatics today and they arent open on Monday. Go figure. I will add my first 2 or 3 tomorrow. Will be a bi color blenny, a royal gramma, and maybe something else but probably just a CUC after that for a few days to a week. Next week I will introduce the clowns if everything goes well.

May want to do a little research on that royal gramma for a first fish. They are supposed to be pretty mean. You want to add more docile fish first generally. Check it out.

yeah, they can get quite fiesty. mine was docile to most other fish, but it got into it with my orange back fairy wrasse (which was also purple) all the time. i loved the gramma though.

i got a firefish today.

Acclimating now.

Generally speaking is it okay to acclimate multiple fish/organisms at once in a single bucket or should each be acclimated in its own bucket?

How long should I drip before putting them in the tank?

im thinking of adding a bi color blenny tomorrow...

is that too soon?

I will be adding more critters tomorrow as well...

Today I added 3 blue leg hermits and 3 turbo snails along with my firefish. if the turbos get wild I will toss them in the fuge, but dennis suggested them so I picked a few up.
